How To Turn on Dog Mode in Tesla Model 3
We’ve all been there. We’re out and about with our dog and we just need to run into the store for a quick second.
But, it’s 90 degrees outside and leaving your pup in the car by itself just isn’t an option. Or is it?
With Tesla’s “Dog Mode” you can keep your dog nice and cool (or warm on a cold day!) while you take care of errands and it will alert anyone walking by that your car is a comfy temperature. In this quick guide, I’m going to show you exactly where to find and turn on “Dog Mode” in your Tesla Model 3.
Tesla Model 3 Dog Mode
Swipe Up
Start by swiping up from the bottom of your touchscreen. This will pull up all your AC controls including front and rear AC and more importantly for us at the moment – Dog Mode.
Dog Mode Icon
Look to the right side of your screen. You should see three icons there:
- Stay
- Dog
- Camp
Simply tap on the Dog Mode icon (the one with a paw print that says ‘Dog’) and you should see it highlight in blue. A text box will also pop up informing you know that it’s activated and working.
Additional Dog Mode Features
The Stay Feature which maintains the temperature while you’re away from the car is very similar to Dog Mode, but Dog Mode comes with a few additional features that make it stand out from just maintaining the temperature.
Window Lock
Had it crossed your mind yet what a disaster it would be if your pooch managed to step on the window button and roll the window down?
No worries, because Dog Mode in a Tesla locks all the window buttons from the interior!
Screen Message
Perhaps the best part of Dog Mode is the fact that the screen stays on to alert anyone passing by that your car is being temperature controlled so there is no need to bash in one of your windows with a rock!
Above is a picture of my screen with Dog Mode turned on. It’s winter and about 40 degrees outside, but my car is being maintained at a comfy 67 degrees.
Get Out
Now, when you get out of your car you should notice that your touchscreen is now alerting anyone who walks by that your Tesla’s AC is being controlled and your pup is nice and comfy even when it’s hot (or cold) outside!
That’s it!
Final Thoughts
Like many things on a Tesla, just knowing where to find the button to turn something on is 90% of the battle. Once you figure out where something is, most controls are super convenient and easy to use (you just have to remember where those controls are too lol).
But, now that you know where to find “Dog Mode” on a Tesla Model 3 and how to turn it on, you can take your pup with you wherever you go. Whether it’s a quick trip to the store or a full-on road trip with your dog, you don’t have to stress about leaving your dog in the car.
