My 3 Favorite Chili’s Vegan Options (2023)
Hey everyone!
If you’re a vegan or trying to make plant-based choices, eating out at popular chain restaurants can be a bit of a challenge. Chili’s, however, offers a variety of vegan options that can be customized to suit your dietary needs.
Today, I’ll share my top 3 favorite vegan options at Chili’s, and give you some tips on how to make them even better. So let’s dig in!
The Upgraded Black Bean Patty
Why I Love It
First off, great news!
As of May 2023, the Black Bean Patty at Chili’s is now vegan! This opens up new avenues to create plant-based variations of their menu items. The Black Bean Patty no longer contains dairy and egg, and you can use it to substitute other proteins in various dishes.
How to Customize
Here are a couple of ways you can modify your order using the Black Bean Patty:
Chicken Fajitas
Order the Chicken Fajitas and sub the chicken with a Black Bean Patty. Make sure to order it with NO chipotle butter, sour cream, or cheese.
You get a plate full of Mexican rice, black beans, flour tortillas, pico, and salsa. For an even healthier version, you can SUB the flour tortillas with corn tortillas.
Also, don’t forget to ask for guacamole—it’s available upon request!
Oldtimer Burger
Order the Oldtimer Burger, sub the animal patty with the Black Bean Patty, and ask for NO cheese.
It comes with pickles, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and mustard. You can choose a vegan side to accompany your burger (more on that below).
Bottomless Tostada Chips & Fresh Guacamole
Why I Love It
Who doesn’t love an endless supply of chips and salsa?
Plus, you can add fresh guacamole to make this appetizer even more delicious.
Pro Tip
You can totally make a meal out of this if you aren’t super hungry. The chips are satisfyingly crunchy, and the guacamole and salsa add a fresh and spicy kick.
House Salad with a Twist
Why I Love It
Salads are generally a safe vegan option, and the House Salad at Chili’s is no exception. It comes with greens, tomatoes, red onion, and cucumber.
How to Customize
Order it with Citrus Balsamic Vinaigrette and NO croutons or cheese.
Here’s where you can get creative—ask if you can SUB the missing items with avocado slices. The added creaminess makes the salad a filling meal.
Bonus: Vegan Sides and Extras
Choose from a range of vegan sides to complete your meal. My personal favorites are the Steamed Broccoli and the Corn on the Cob.
If you’re in the mood for something extra, add some Avocado Slices or Guacamole to your dish.
A Note on Cross-Contamination
Just be aware that the fries share a fryer with chicken. While this may not be an issue for some, those who are concerned about cross-contamination may want to opt for a different side.
And there you have it!
Those are my top 3 vegan-friendly options at Chili’s. I hope this guide makes your next Chili’s outing a delicious and stress-free experience. Cheers to making more vegan-friendly choices!
