How To Order Vegan at MOD Pizza
MOD Pizza is one of my absolute favorite chains to get a vegan pizza.
You can pick and choose your toppings including a vegan plant-based sausage and vegan cheese!
But, with great choices comes great responsibility! And, if you’ve ever been in line and felt that wave of panic hit you trying to remember which sauce has dairy or which crust is vegan-friendly – I got you!
I’m about to walk you through the ordering process, step-by-step like a MOD Pizza Sherpa helping you navigate through to the pizza mountain top.
Here we go!
Step 1 – Choose Pizza, Salad or Breadstick
You have three main options for ordering vegan at MOD Pizza. You can either Create-Your-Own-Pizza, Create-Your-Own-Salad or order their Garlic Bread (garlic bread will need modifications!).
I’m going to jump straight into creating your own vegan pizza next because that’s the most popular option at MOD.
If you’re ordering a salad or garlic bread, scroll past the pizza section to the Create-A-Salad section or the Breadsticks info down below.
Create-Your-Own-Pizza
Choose Crust
There are two vegan crusts to choose from when creating your pizza. The Original and the Gluten-Free crusts.
A couple of notes to keep in mind when choosing a crust:
You can pick from a 6″ Mini Crust, the “standard” MOD 11″ Crust or the Mega Dough 11″ Thick Crust.
The Gluten-Free Crust will cost you extra.
MOD has a cauliflower crust on its menu, but it is not vegan. (it is made with cheese and egg whites)
Once you’ve decided on your crust it’s time to move on to sauces.
Choose a Sauce
There are 5 different sauces to choose from to create your base layer including the classic Red Sauce.
- Red Sauce
- Spicy Red Sauce
- BBQ Sauce
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Garlic Rub
My personal favorite is the Spicy Red Sauce, but you do you.
Once you’ve got your sauce figured out, it’s time to move on to toppings.
Choose Your Toppings
There are over 25 different toppings to choose from! Get creative and create a masterpiece!
The stars of the show are the Daiya Dairy Free Cheese and the Plant Based Sausage. For me, a cheeseless pizza just doesn’t do it, so the Dairy Free Cheese is amazing to have as an option.
Full list of MOD Pizza’s 27 vegan-friendly toppings:
Dairy Free Cheese | Cucumbers | Red Onion |
Plant Based Italian Sausage | Garlic (chopped) | Roasted Red Peppers |
Artichokes | Garlic (roasted) | Romaine |
Arugula | Green Bell Pepper | Rosemary |
Basil | Jalapenos | Spinach |
Black Olives | Mama Lil’s Sweet Hot Peppers | Mixed Greens |
Corn (Roasted) | Mushrooms | Tomatoes (Sliced, Diced) |
Chickpeas | Oregano | Sea Salt |
Cucumbers | Pineapple | Sea Salt & Pepper |
If this is your first time at MOD, chances are you’ll end up with way too many toppings on your first pizza – and that’s okay! I’ve been there before and the pizza was still delicious.
Hold on though! We’re not done quite yet! Once your pizza comes out of the oven you can choose to add a Finishing Sauce to it.
Finishing Sauce
The Finishing Sauce is a little extra drizzle of sauce that goes across the top of the pizza after it’s cooked.
Your options are:
- Balsamic Fig Glaze
- BBQ Swirl
- Hot Buffalo Sauce
- Red Sauce Dollops
It is optional, but I highly recommend it because it adds an extra punch of flavor that takes the pizza to another level.
At this point your Create-Your-Own-Pizza journey is complete. The only thing left to do now is to enjoy your creation!
Create-Your-Own-Salad
If you decided to go salad over pizza, here is how to order it at MOD.
First, you’ll need to pick what size salad you’re ordering. You can order a Side Salad, a standard MOD salad or a Mega family-sized salad.
Choose Your Salad Base
You have four different types of greens to choose from to create your salad base. You can also put together any combo of the four as well if you want.
- Arugula
- Spinach
- Romaine
- Mixed Greens
Once you’ve decided on a base, it’s time to move on to toppings:
Whether you go for pizza or salad, you get to choose from the same topping options. (If you need a text list of the toppings scroll back up to the pizza toppings above)
Choose as many or as few as you want. It’s going to be the same price either way so create your salad exactly the way you want it.
Finally, MOD Pizza has multiple vegan-friendly salad dressings to choose from.
Vegan-Friendly Salad Dressings
There are 7 different vegan salad dressings to choose from which are way more options than you’ll find almost anywhere.
- Balsamic
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Lemon Vinaigrette
- Red Wine Vinegar
- Greek and Herb Tahini
- Sherry Dijon
- Zesty Roma
Once you’ve picked out your salad dressing, your salad is ready to go! Now, enjoy it’s time to enjoy the masterpiece you put together!
Garlic Bread
MOD Pizza does offer Garlic Bread as well that can be made vegan-friendly WITH modifications.
Make sure to order the Cheesy Garlic Bread with no mozzarella or parmesan cheese. (You can sub the Daiya cheese in their place).
Pair them with the Red Dipping Sauce and you’re good to go.
Final Thoughts
A few things to keep in mind when ordering vegan at any restaurant that is not a completely vegan restaurant.
- ALWAYS check with your server before ordering to confirm any information you have read here is correct. There are many variables – menus change, ingredients change, differences between individual locations of the same chain, etc – that could cause the information on this page to be incorrect.
- Cross-Contamination is not only possible, it’s likely to happen. Restaurants use shared surfaces and even if a location is doing its best, it’s almost impossible to prevent all cross-contamination. If this is an issue for you, I would suggest not eating at these types of locations.
- Eco Sasquatch is not responsible for any actions taken based on the information on this page.
