How To Order Vegan at Chuy’s Tex-Mex (2023)
Hello, my fellow plant-lovers… trying to order vegan at Chuy’s Tex Mex?
I’m here to share a secret with you: dining out at your favorite Mexican restaurant, Chuy’s, can be just as enjoyable even if you’re fully committed to the vegan lifestyle.
I’m about to guide you through the array of vegan options available, some sneaky tweaks to popular dishes, and my own personal favorites. Don’t worry, there’s no reason to say adiós to Chuy’s because of your vegan lifestyle. In fact, I would argue that it’s a fiesta of flavors waiting to be discovered!
Vegan Appetizers
Starting things off, let’s tackle appetizers. A party without appetizers is just a meeting, right? And we are definitely here to party! Chuy’s has us covered with chips and salsa – a timeless duo that rivals Batman and Robin.
And their guacamole? Ay caramba! It’s creamy, zesty, and oh so delicious.
But if you’re feeling adventurous, go for the nachos (comes with refried beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, and jalapenos… plus, you can also add guacamole), just make sure to order it with no cheese.
Vegan Entrees
Tacos
Now, let’s taco ’bout the main event – the tacos.
Here, you can go for crispy tacos. The guacamole tacos are a personal favorite of mine, just remember to order it with no cheese.
The bean tacos also hit the spot, again sans cheese. Both are served with Mexican rice and refried beans (yes, the refried beans are vegan), providing a fulfilling, tasty meal that won’t leave you missing the dairy.
Enchiladas
Moving onto the famous enchiladas, and boy do they live up to their name. The veggie enchiladas* are a vegan delight, just make sure to ask for no cheese.
*Important Note: The Flour Tortillas are not vegan-friendly. You’ll still need to order corn tortillas with your enchiladas.
Now, you get a choice of sauce here, so think carefully. You can’t go wrong with either the Ranchero or the Tomatillo Sauce – both are vegan-friendly and equally delicious. Don’t worry, these enchiladas also come with Mexican rice and refried beans. The whole thing is like a vegan symphony on a plate.
If you’re leaning towards a salad, you’ve got options. Order the Grilled Chicken Salad or the Mexi Cobb Salad, but remember to hold the cheese and chicken.
If you’re feeling a little more indulgent, the Guacamole Taco Salad is a superb choice. Just order it without cheese and you’re good to go.
Sides
Finally, let’s not forget the underrated heroes of any Mexican feast – the sides!
From corn tortillas to blue corn tortillas, Mexican rice to green chile rice, and refried beans to charro beans, there’s plenty to choose from to complete your meal. I particularly recommend the blue corn tortillas for a unique twist and the green chile rice for a bit of heat.
So there you have it, friends!
Ordering vegan from Chuy’s isn’t as difficult as you might think. In fact, with all these delicious options, you might just find yourself saying “Viva la Vegan” the next time you’re at Chuy’s.
Final Thoughts
A few things to keep in mind when ordering vegan at any restaurant that is not a completely vegan restaurant.
- ALWAYS check with your server before ordering to confirm any information you have read here is correct. There are many variables – menus change, ingredients change, differences between individual locations of the same chain, etc – that could cause the information on this page to be incorrect.
- Cross-Contamination is not only possible, it’s likely to happen. Restaurants use shared surfaces and even if a location is doing its best, it’s almost impossible to prevent all cross-contamination. If this is an issue for you, I would suggest not eating at these types of locations.
- Eco Sasquatch is not responsible for any actions taken based on the information on this page.
