How To Order Vegan at UNO’s Pizzeria
I visited (and ordered vegan) a UNO Pizzeria last night for the first time in quite some time.
After that experience, I’m going to go ahead and say UNO Pizzeria may be the best pizza chain to order vegan at in the country.
They have menu items (including pizza) labeled vegan directly on the menu. No need for follow-up questions on modifications – just order and you’re done.
And perhaps most importantly of all – it’s delicious! I got to try the Vegan Cheeseburger Deep Dish Pizza and the Beyond Burger with fries. Both were outstanding!
Okay, let’s get into the details on how to order vegan at UNO’s Pizzeria.
Vegan Pizzas
Back in 2019, UNO’s Pizzeria introduced items like the Thin Crust Cheese Pizza, Vegan Garden Pizza, and a Vegan Cheeseburger Deep Dish Pizza. All three of those pizzas are still on the menu today.
Vegan Cheeseburger Pizza
The Vegan Cheeseburger Pizza comes with a deep dish vegan crust, vegan cheese, Beyond Beef crumbles, pickles, ketchup and mustard.
First, let me be clear – it’s amazing. (It might actually be my new favorite food on my favorite things list)
What’s crazy about the pizza is the stars of the dish aren’t even the vegan cheese or Beyond Beef which would both be incredible if they found their way onto most pizza chain’s menus.
It’s the crust and the pickles.
It’s a deep dish crust (UNO’s is known for its deep dish pizzas) that tastes almost like a biscuit once you get to those edge bites of almost all crust. It’s biscuit-like in the best ways possible – on both flavor and an almost buttery lightness.
Finally, the pickles are the pieces that pull the whole pizza together. They’re fresh and delicious and make the whole Cheeseburger Pizza idea make sense. (Pickles might even be my new favorite pizza topping on my favorite things list)
Vegan Garden Pizza
The Vegan Garden Pizza is a thin-crust pizza topped with housemade pizza sauce, fresh spinach, roasted vegetables, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Of course, you also have the option of adding vegan cheese as well.
I didn’t get the chance to try this one out, but it sounds like a much lighter and fresher option compared to the heavier deep-dish cheeseburger pizza.
Vegan Cheese Pizza
If you just want to keep things simple, you can go with the Vegan Cheese Pizza.
Create Your Own Vegan Pizza
If you’re feeling a bit creative, they’ve got you covered with the option to build your own pizza too.
You can choose either the Deep Dish crust or the Hand-Stretched Thin Crust. Add Vegan Cheese
You can choose from any of the following toppings to create your own masterpiece:
- Crumbled Beyond Beef Patty (as is on the Cheeseburger Pizza)
- Caramelized Onions
- Diced Pickles
- Mushrooms
- Onion
- Peppers
- Black Olives
- Kalamata Olives
- Broccoli
- Eggplant
- Spinach
- Roasted Vegetables
- Banana Peppers
- Artichokes
- Garlic
- Jalapenos
- Pineapple
Burgers and Salads
But hey, what if you’re not feeling pizza? Fear not, my friends, UNO’s is not just about pizzas. They offer a super tasty Beyond Burger and a couple of salad options.
Let me run you through how to order these menu items.
Beyond Burger
Like the Vegan Cheeseburger Pizza, the Beyond Burger can be ordered vegan as-is directly off the menu. (The only “mod” would be potentially adding vegan cheese)
It comes nestled on a toasted bun, complete with the classic fixings: ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and red onion. If you’re a cheese lover like me, go ahead and add some vegan cheese.
Vegan Salads
For a lighter option, you could try the Vegan Garden Starter Salad or the Berry & Goat Cheese Salad, but remember to say “no goat cheese,” and sub the dressing for a vegan option like the Low Fat Vinaigrette or Balsamic Vinaigrette.
Vegan Sides
And finally, for sides, you have options like Roasted Seasonal Vegetables, Steamed Broccoli, French Fries*, and Whole Grain Brown Rice.
So, there you have it!
Whether you’re vegan or just up for some delicious plant-based food, UNO’s Pizzeria has got something for everyone. Happy dining!
Final Thoughts
A few things to keep in mind when ordering vegan at any restaurant that is not a completely vegan restaurant.
- ALWAYS check with your server before ordering to confirm any information you have read here is correct. There are many variables – menus change, ingredients change, differences between individual locations of the same chain, etc – that could cause the information on this page to be incorrect.
- Cross-Contamination is not only possible, it’s likely to happen. Restaurants use shared surfaces and even if a location is doing its best, it’s almost impossible to prevent all cross-contamination. If this is an issue for you, I would suggest not eating at these types of locations.
- Eco Sasquatch is not responsible for any actions taken based on the information on this page.
